Are there other fees required with registering?
Yes. Minor Ball, aside from registration fee, requires the following:
Credit Card processing fee equal to 5% of the registration amount.
$100 Dollar Uniform Deposit (undated Cheque preferred) For all divisions above Rally Cap
Coaches or managers will collect these Cheques at the start of the year.
Uniform cheques will be returned by the coach at the end of the year once the jersey is turned in.
When are the season start and end dates?
We always hope to get some indoor "get the cobwebs off" time in the end of April, but that is not guaranteed. We are also at the mercy of Mother Nature for field openings. That being said, we are usually on field first week of May, and the season for house league and Rally Cap end the last days of June. AA competitive teams have an opportunity to play until the end of July or longer.
What are the nights of play for each division?
Rally Cap is Monday and Wednesday 6:00 to 7:15.
9U, 11U, 13U and 18U baseball are Tuesday and Thursday.
All Softball and 15U Baseball are Monday and Wednesday
Coaches are free to adjust start and end times if bookings allow, but we typically shoot for 6:00PM starts for practices and 6:30 starts for games (to allow out of town teams time to travel here, and vice versa). Practices should last at least 90 minutes.
What equipment is supplied and what needs to be purchased by parents?
Minor Ball provides the following to each of its players:
Jersey (T-shirt for Rally Cap)
Hat
Bats / balls
Helmets
---
Each player requires their own ball glove.
Players above the Rally Cap Division are required to purchase their own baseball pants (its best to get these early)
Black for Softball
Grey for Baseball
Baseball players must wear a protective cup as mandated by Baseball Alberta.
Softball players in U13 and above must wear a protective cup. In U11 this is also required when pitching and catching.
What is your refund Policy?
Full refunds are available (minus the administration fee) until the start of the season. No refunds after the season is underway, subject to Board ruling on appeal.
Are there limits on the number of players you take in each division?
Yes we can only accept a certain number of players at each age level.
This may be impacted by COVID Protocols
Depending on the division the number of spots on each team is limited
Number of teams depends on total number of registrants in each division and availability of VOLUNTEER coaches
If you register for a division where we do not get enough players to form a team your money will be refunded in full.
Once registration for a division is full you will be prompted if you want to be placed on a waitlist
What division do I register in?
Divisions are based on players birth year as stated in the registration program (one of the first few pages when registering will clearly show the birth year required for the division)
If for any reason you feel your child should be in a different division please email coldlakeminorball@gmail.com or message on Facebook.
Minor ball will then contact you to set up an evaluation
Only players in extreme circumstances will be granted division changes. Ie: the player is too weak/strong for the division they are set to play in.
Should I be supplying my own helmet?
It is not necessary as CLMB supplies helmets, but it is highly recommended due to hygiene and communicable disease issues.
I would like to coach 9U baseball and register my son. I played along time ago at an elite level. I would like more information on if I need any specific requirements to coach 9u for the 2023 season
The only requirements to coach rally cap and rookie ball is a criminal record check. It's highly recommended to go through the community stream of the NCCP for baseball, but it's not required at this time
My daughter was registered to play u17 in piercland but we were just notified there wasn’t enough players. Can she join u18 boys?
Yes. We welcome all players, and female competitors are allowed to play overage with no restrictions on pitching and catching.
